Partnering Institute – I Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Sunabeda

In this project, the centre is partnering with Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (IISWC), Regional centre, Sunabeda, Koraput District, Odisha. The regional centre was established in June 1992 to cater the problems of the eco-sensitive tribal region of Eastern Ghats in Agro Eco Region–12 through undertaking research, development, extension/outreach & capacity building activities in the field of soil and water conservation, water resource development & watershed management. As per the database on land degradation, an area of 17.07 M ha land area is suffering from various forms of land degradation in the Eastern region. The mandates of the institute are to undertake research to address land degradation in the Eastern Ghats Region (Agro-Eco-region: 12). In coordination with State Agricultural Universities/ Central Institutions/ NGOs / line State Govt. Departments for developing location-specific technologies in the area of soil and water conservation and management and provide training and advisory for management.

The MSSRF-DBT KISAN hub to be established at MSSRF

The Main hub, Sub-hub-1 and IISWC are involved in the implementation of the project in the following three aspirational districts.

  2. Malkangiri
  3. Rayagada
